Parallel Implementation of Cone Beam Tomography

چکیده
Three dimensional computed tomography is a computationally intensive procedure, requiring large amounts of R A M and processing power. Parallel methods for two dimensional computed tomography have been studied, but not edended or applied to 3D cone beam tomography. A discussion on how the 3D cone beam tomography problem can be implemented in parallel using MPI is given. W e show an improvement in performance from 58.2% to 81.8% processor utilization in a heterogeneous cluster of workstations by load balancing. A 96.8% efficiency was seen using a 2 processor SMP.

Comparison of Cone Beam Computerized Tomography and Phosphor Storage Plate in Detecting Artificial Buccal Recurrent Caries
Introduction Recurrent or secondary caries develops at the margin of restorations and causes restorative failure. We conducted this study to compare the performance of Phosphor Storage Plate (PSP) and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan in detecting buccal recurrent caries under amalgam and composite resin restorations. Materials and Methods Class V cavities were prepared on the buccal...

Background: Paranasal sinus disease is one of the most common problems of patients that refer to ENT centers. Adding to clinical examination imaging plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment. Also the imaging of paranasal sinuses is necessary before surgery. Although computed tomography is the modality of choice for these areas, it has some disadvantages which the most important one is...
متن کاملArtifact reduction techniques in Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging modality
Introduction: Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was introduced and became more common based on its low cost, fast image procedure rate and low radiation dose compared to CT. This imaging modality improved diagnostic and treatment-planning procedures by providing three-dimensional information with greatly reduced level of radiation dose compared to 2D dental imaging modalitie...

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The present study aimed to assess the nature and prevalence of incidental findings in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of oral and maxillofacial patients. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, 773 CBCT samples were retrieved from archives of a private oral and maxillofacial radiology center. Any findings that were not related to the reason of CBCT request was re...
متن کاملCone Beam Tomography using MPI on Heterogeneous Workstation Clusters - MPI Developer's Conference, 1996. Proceedings., Second
With cone beam CT long computation and a large amount of memory is required. The majority of the computation is in the backprojection step. We have investigated the use of parallel methods on workstation clusters using MPI to overcome both the long processing t ime and lessen memory requirements on individual workstations. We used the asynchronous MPI implementation t o reconstruct a 25€i3 volu...
